The number of Canadians wanting the COVID-19 vaccine keeps rising.
Angus Reid found 48% said they’d get the shot immediately – up from 40% in November, and another 31% said they would get the shot after a wait.
Those 65 and older are most likely to get the vaccine (61%) – 35 to 44-year-olds the least (42%).
In total, 70% of those surveyed said they were concerned about the long-term side-effects of the vaccine – and 14% are against receiving a vaccine under any circumstance.
Who should get the vaccine? 71% feel it should be mandatory for all healthcare workers, followed by long term care-home workers at 69%.
Half of respondents said the vaccine should be mandatory in schools, while workplaces (43%) and public events (40%) were deemed to be of lesser risk.
The highest percentages of those who would get the shot right away were in BC (54%) and Atlantic Canada (53%) – Manitoba and Saskatchewan had the lowest at 42% and 40% respectively.
