We’ve been waiting weeks for the cold snap to break, and this is the weekend our prayers have been answered.
Meteorologist Mike Russo at Environment Canada says we’re getting a change in the weather systems.
“Essentially what we have happening is disturbances are crossing north of Manitoba, and what they will do is bring in a milder Pacific flow of air across the prairies. That milder air has already entered the Alberta area and will continue to progress eastward over the course of the next few days.”
He says Saturday’s daytime high is forecast to hit minus 3 with zero on Sunday which is above normal for this time of year. “The average values for Brandon sitting at minus 7 for a daytime high.”
Russo says “the milder conditions will continue on into early next week.” Monday’s high could hit plus 6.
As for precipitation, he says it should remain dry with just the odd snowflake next week.
