Tragedy has struck a Manitoba family, who is mourning the loss of a loved one with COVID-19, after an attempt to transfer her to a hospital in Ontario earlier this week failed.
Shared Health says the “medically stable – but critically ill” patient “destabilized” before they could be transported.
In a CBC News report, 31-year-old Krystal Mousseau, mother of two, died in Brandon on Monday (May 24), a day after she was scheduled to fly to Ottawa.
So far, at least 23 Manitobans have been flown to hospitals across Ontario to free up beds, and one patient was reportedly sent to Saskatchewan on Wednesday (May 26).
There are currently 251 COVID-19 patients in Manitoba hospitals, including 73 in ICU’s.
