Westoba Credit Union has donated $2,500 from their Inspire Program to help upgrade the kitchen at the Dunrea Rink.
Shaylyn Cuvelier, Dunrea Rink Committee President says they are the only facility in their small community that can provide kitchen services, “We are the only functioning rink left in our Rural Municipality, this will be a positive impact on the rink in so many ways and help keep it running smoothly and safely.”
The Rink Committee is comprised of a small group of volunteers that help organize and host events at the Rink as well as the care and maintenance of the facility. The group hosts a yearly bonspiel and sponge puck hockey tournament during the winter months, as well as have sponge puck hockey 2 nights a week. The rink also provides rental space for wedding socials, showers, birthday parties, kitchen rentals, and game competitions. For rental inquiries, please contact the rink committee at dunrearink@gmail.com .
Vinish Prakash, Westoba Branch Manager for Killarney, Cartwright and Ninette says they’re proud to support this project that impacts the entire region, “Facilities like the Dunrea Rink serve as a hub for our communities; Westoba is committed to investing in community infrastructure and supporting the dedicated volunteers that make it happen.”
The funding from Westoba Inspire will be used to upgrade the kitchen with stainless steel counters and cabinets.
Completion of the project is aimed at the fall of 2021.
