If you’ve got a wedding in the works for this weekend or beyond, you might want to make sure your guests are fully vaccinated.
Manitoba’s top doctor, Brent Roussin says vaccines are not required for weddings in general, but if you plan to serve alcohol, that’ll fall under province’s new guidelines.
Starting this Friday (Sept 3), people attending licensed venues, like a bar or restaurant, must show proof they’re fully-vaxxed – and this would apply to a wedding banquet hall that’s licensed to serve booze to wedding guests.
Roussin says “If anything that is occurring in a venue that requires fully vaccinated people, then vaccine status will be required in that venue. If it is a banquet hall and they are licensed and this will take place in a licensed manner, then they will fall into the fully vaccinated criteria. If it is occurring in a manner that is not putting them into a category under the orders that requires fully vaccinated, then not.” The requirement for vaccinated guests does not apply to unlicensed venues or weddings in private settings.
Roussin says he plans to publish the new public health order as soon as possible to provide more clarity about weddings.
