Brandon School Division Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of Mr. Mathew Gustafson as Superintendent/Chief Executive Officer.
A news release says Mathew Gustafson has been employed by the Brandon School Division since 2002. During this time, he has worked as Principal of Betty Gibson School, Vincent Massey High School, and Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School. He served as Assistant Superintendent for five-and-a-half years and was appointed Acting Superintendent/Chief Executive Officer in January 2021.
Mr. Gustafson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree, a Bachelor of Education After Degree, and a Master of Education Degree from Brandon University. Mr. Gustafson graduated from Deloraine Collegiate and obtained his Farm Machinery Diploma and Heavy-Duty Apprenticeship before entering the field of Education.
He brings to this position considerable educational experience with a strong dedication and commitment to children and young people and the advancement of quality public education for all students.
The news release also announced that Jon Zilkey and Susan Gilleshammer will serve under Gustafson as BSD’s assistant superintendents in the role of curriculum and continuous improvement and student achievement support services, respectively.
