Preparations continue for the 2021 Manitoba Ag Ex, which is set to return to Brandon next week.
A news release from the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba says, “The agricultural fair, which is scheduled to run from October 27th – 30th at Brandon’s Keystone Centre, will be the first time in almost two years that the province of Manitoba has hosted a large scale, in person event since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
“We’re really excited about next week,” says Provincial Exhibition President Greg Crisanti. “An event of this size takes a great deal of time and planning and both the staff and volunteers have been working hard in order to make this event happen.”
The Exhibition announced plans in June to move forward with the Fall Show and Ag Ex Committee Co Chair Dallas Johnston could not be happier to see it fast approaching.
“Cattle producers are looking forward to this year’s Show,” says Johnston, who says that by hosting national cattle shows and sales for many breeds over the years, has become a major draw for producers. “In addition to the breed shows, this year’s Ag Ex will host a Jackpot Heifer Show, Bull Show and Junior Shows that will culminate in the Supreme Breed Extravaganza.”
“Those winners will earn a berth into the Canadian Western Agribition in Regina,” Johnson went on to say.
Because plans are contingent on provincial health orders, those attending this year’s event must be fully vaccinated. All spectators and entrants will need to provide documentation.
The prospect of an in person event takes some stress off the exhibition, which has been forced to cancel most of its events over the course of the past two years.
“We’re looking forward to bringing people together once again and celebrating the resilience of Manitoba’s agricultural community,” says Crisanti.
