Brandon’s ‘Meals on Wheels’ could use your help.
The folks at Prairie Oasis, who run the program, expect an increase in deliveries as people struggle to make ends meet because of rising food costs. They currently deliver about 500 meals a week to seniors, people living with disabilities, those who’ve recently returned home from the hospital and others.
The non-profit ‘Meals on Wheels’ does receive some funding, but relies on a big portion from various groups and service clubs in the area, however, those donations have been impacted by the pandemic.
If you’d like to help contact Prairie Oasis at 204-727-6641. They’re looking for drivers to deliver meals and also with help in the kitchen. Drivers must use their personal vehicle and are provided with a route for delivery and I-D showing they’re from Prairie Oasis.
You can donate to ‘Meals on Wheels’ through Prairie Oasis, and tax receipts will be issued for donations over $20. Money donated helps to buy food and gas, along with maintaining the equipment in the kitchen.
