The Manitoba government is bringing in new public health orders to try and get a handle on rising COVID-19 cases numbers.
Dr. Brent Roussin and Health Minister Audrey Gordon made the announcement at a news conference today (Nov 12).
Roussin said the restrictions involve restricting religious gatherings in the Southern Health Region, and proof of vaccination or a negative test for recreational sports for 12 to 17-year-olds province-wide. There’ll be a grace period for the sports restrictions which are to come into effect December 5th.
Roussin said that without new restrictions, modelling data shows that numbers will continue to climb into December, which would cause increases in hospital and ICU admissions.
The order for Southern Health comes into effect at 12:01 am on Saturday (Nov 13).
