On December 9, 2021, Brandon police observed someone underneath a parked vehicle in the 200 block of College Avenue shortly after 2:00 am. Police arrested a 38-year-old woman who was allegedly trying to cut the catalytic converter off the vehicle with a reciprocating saw. She was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will be released to appear in court on February 14, 2022 on charges of Theft Under $5000 and Mischief to Property. In 2020, Brandon Police Service received only one complaint of theft of a catalytic converter. So far, in 2021, Brandon Police Service has responded to six separate reports of this nature throughout the year. In one of these reports, there were five converters stolen from one location.

On December 9, 2021, police responded to a report of an assault at a residence shortly before 3:00 am. Police say a 27-year-old mam allegedly used a cord in an attempt to choke the victim. The victim did not require medical attention. Police say the suspect was also to abide by conditions of which he was in breach. He was also the subject of several outstanding charges. He was arrested and was to appear in court today (Dec 9) on charges of Assault by Choking, Fail to comply with Recognizance, Fail to Comply with Probation, Assault, Assault Cause Bodily Harm, and Fail to Attend Court.

On December 8, 2021, Brandon police observed a male consuming alcohol in the 1100 block of 19th Street shortly after 11:00 pm. Police say a 51-year-old man was intoxicated and in no condition to care for himself. He was lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

On December 8, 2021, police conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of 1st Street at approximately 3:00 pm. Officers say a 26-year-old man was found to be prohibited from driving, and was arrested. He’s to appear in court on February 7, 2022 on a charge of Operation of a Conveyance while Prohibited.
