Gas prices in Brandon took a huge jump Thursday (Mar 3) with most stations selling a litre of regular for $1.63.9.
The cheapest gas can be found at the Waywayseecappo Gas Bar, just north of Brandon on Highway 10, where a litre of regular is going for $1.59.9.
Oil industry analysts are saying the skyrocketing prices are being driven by Russia’s war with Ukraine, and western sanctions limiting Russia’s ability to export crude oil.
The highest gas prices in Canada have been found in Vancouver and Montreal at $1.85 and $1.69 a litre, respectively – but some social media posts today (Mar 4) from Metro Vancouver already show prices at $2.00.9 per litre.
Reports indicate that in the coming weeks, many gas stations across the county will up their prices by another 10-cents-a-litre.
