Brandon’s new summer music festival is ready to release its headliners. The Salamander Summer Music Festival will take place in Rideau Park, Brandon, over three evenings July 21-23 this year. A first glimpse of the exciting headliners will be released at a special launch event Friday, May 19th at Lady of the Lake.
“Summer means long, fun nights, with plenty of music and great friends – that’s the Salamander Summer Music Festival,” said Sheri Connery, president of the non-profit group that’s bringing the inaugural festival together. “We’re ready to release our headliners, and ready to sell tickets. May Long Weekend is when the summer season kicks off and it’s the perfect time to get excited about hot July nights.”
The Salamander Summer Music Festival is a brand-new three-night festival that will take over Rideau Park at the peak of summer. It gives Brandon, Westman, and visitors from all over a destination musical event that will electrify one of the city’s most iconic green spaces, in the shadow of the water tower.
Named after an amphibian that’s common around Brandon and Westman, and one that is featured on the City of Brandon’s coat of arms, the Salamander Festival has been crafted from the group up as an amazing festival experience that fills a gap in the Westman summer scene.
“We’re exciting and family-friendly at the same time,” Connery said. “We’ll have delicious food trucks, amazing merch and vendor tables, a vibrant beer tent – and the best local Manitoba acts to hit the stage.”
Some of those acts will be revealed Friday evening at the official launch party. Launch party tickets are just $5 and available on Eventbrite. The launch party, which will be held at Lady of the Lake on Friday evening, May 19th.

Four acts from genres varying from country, folk, rock and a little bit of everything in between will perform at the launch party. Live music starts at 8 p.m. featuring Julianna Moore, Bruce Dunlop, Michelle Boudreau, Matt Cory, and concluding with DJ Red and DJ Dirt.
