In a media release today (June 19), Brandon police said “shortly after 10:00 am on June 16th family members of 20 year old Vishay Patel reported him as missing.

An investigation was launched by Brandon Police Service which led police to believe that Vashay was last seen in the area of the Discovery Centre.
On June 18, a grid search of the river area was completed through the assistance of the Office of the Fire Commissioner, in addition to Brandon Fire and Emergency Services.
On the evening of June 18, members of the missing person’s family located clothing near the Assiniboine River and the Highway 110 bridge. A search of the area by emergency services personnel resulted in the discovery of a deceased male.
The identity of the individual has yet to be confirmed, and the Office of the Medical Examiner will be continuing the investigation as there are no signs of foul play at this time.
