On June 30, 2023, at approximately 6:05 pm, Manitoba RCMP North Traffic Services were conducting traffic enforcement with the Manitoba First Nations Police Service in Opaskwayak Cree Nation, Manitoba. While parked and conducting vehicle checks, the RCMP vehicle’s automatic licence plate reader detected a vehicle with licence plates reported stolen out of Winnipeg.
Police initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. Both the driver and the passenger, who are from Moose Lake, Manitoba, were arrested for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of:
o 10 grams of suspected cocaine
o various drug paraphernalia
o 23 debit and credit cards, believed to be stolen
o 6 different Manitoba ID cards and driver’s licences believed to be stolen and/or fake
o 2 Indian Affairs Status Cards, one of which is believed to be fake
o 12 cellphones
o Multiple fake and forged cheques
o An undisclosed amount of Canadian currency

Shery Lambert, 32, was driving the vehicle. As well as the Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, she has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000, Fraud, Possession of Forged Documents, Unlawful Transportation of Liquor, Unlawful Transportation of Cannabis, Driving Unregistered Vehicle, and Driving Without Valid Driver’s Licence. At the time of her arrest, Lambert was on probation in relation to a conviction for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. She has been remanded.
The 24-year-old passenger was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000, Fraud, and Possession of Forged Documents. She was released pending a court appearance.
The RCMP continue to investigate the fake and forged documents.
