You’ll see an increase in your Manitoba Hydro bill starting next week.
The Public Utilities Board (PUB) has approved a 1% rate hike on September 1st – and then again in April 2024.
Residential customers will pay about 1.4% more, or about $35 to $65 a year on average.
Last November, Hydro’s initial request of a 3.5% increase was dropped to 2% after the province decided to reduce what it collects from the crown corporation annually in provincial debt guarantee and water rental payments.
The PUB’s decision to reduce will end up saving $36 million.
