The Manitoba election campaign hit the halfway mark on Tuesday (Sept 19), and both the New Democrats and Progressive Conservatives made election promises.
Yesterday, the Progressive Conservatives promised more health-care services at pharmacies if they’re re-elected. The plan would allow pharmacists to treat more common conditions like strep throat, pink eye and tick bites – as well as managing chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes.
The NDP, meantime, promised to lift the PST from the construction of new rental units, and would give cash advances to film and tv production companies coming to Manitoba.
Today (Sept 20), the New Democrats announced “they’ll help 5,000 families switch to geothermal heating and cooling with no upfront cost and no need to find an installer.”
They say “this plan will lower energy bills for families by up to 50% – and by “hiring local, qualified contractors to install more geothermal systems,” the NDP says “their energy plan
will create 1,000 clean energy jobs per year across the province.”
The provincial election is October 3rd.
