After the acquisition of forward Jayden Wiens from the Saskatoon Blades, the Brandon Wheat Kings had a decision to make regarding their 2003-born players. On Thursday (Oct 5), they announced a decision.
The Wheat Kings have traded 20-year-old forward Dawson Pasternak to the Victoria Royals in exchange for a conditional draft pick. Pasternak has yet to play this season with the Wheat Kings due to injury.
Pasternak was acquired last season from the Portland Winterhawks. In 27 games played with the Wheat Kings, he amassed 22 points. He spent much of the half-season he played in Brandon on a line with captain Nate Danielson.
The Wheat Kings now have three 2003-born players on their roster, the maximum number allowed in the WHL. Those players are forward Brett Hyland, Wiens, and defenseman Kayden Sadhra-Kang.
The Wheat Kings are home to the Calgary Hitmen Saturday night (Oct 7).
