On the agenda at Brandon City Council tonight, a request from the YWCA for help from the city as they move forward with demolishing Meredith Place and replacing it with a new transitional housing facility.
The group is hoping the city will waive water and sewer deposits on the 11th Street building – and landfill fees on materials removed during the demolition. Work on a new facility is to begin in 2024.
Also on the schedule, councillors will hear a presentation from the Rotary Club about World Polio Day on October 24th, and reports from the police board, the audit and finance committee – and the poverty committee. They’ll also decide on whether to accept a million dollar bid from Overland Custom Coach for four new para-transit buses.
