Wayne Balcaen, the new MLA for Brandon West, has been appointed to the Progressive Conservative’s shadow cabinet. The former Brandon Police Chief is now the shadow minister for justice.
Other members of the Tory shadow cabinet include:
-Grant Jackson of Spruce Woods, who’s been named the party’s deputy house leader, and will shadow Manitoba Hydro and the Public Utilities Board.
-Turtle Mountain’s Doyle Piwniuk was appointed the shadow minister for Manitoba Public Insurance.
-Greg Nesbitt of Riding Mountain will handle environment and climate change and Efficiency Manitoba.
-Swan River’s Rick Wowchuk was appointed shadow minister for natural resources.
-and Jodie Byram in Agassiz was assigned labour, immigration and the Workers Compensation Board.
Meanwhile, the search for a replacement for Balcaen continues at the Brandon Police Service. Mayor Jeff Fawcett told the Brandon Sun interviews will take place next month – and a new police chief could be announced in December or January.
