Prairie Mountain Health (PMH) and the Brandon Wheat Kings have partnered for “Spread the Warmth Night”
PMH will set up donation boxes at the entrances for the Friday, November 17th game (7 p.m.) against the Edmonton Oil Kings at Westoba Place, and is asking for donations of new mitts, gloves, toques, socks and underwear to help our more vulnerable population during the cold winter months. The items collected will be given to our various programs and services, such as our Emergency Departments, 7th Street Health Access Centre and Public and Mental Health offices.
In addition, PMH will be part of the ‘Chuck-A-Puck’ event, selling sponge pucks at the doors for $2 each. During the 2nd intermission, there is a toss – the closest puck to the centre ice circle wins our prize package. Money collected will be used to purchase necessities, such as hygiene items.
“Prairie Mountain Health felt doing a donation drive could be another way to help our clients who use our program and services,” stated PMH Communications Coordinator Monica Truffyn. “Our winter months can be long and harsh in Manitoba, and being able to offer our clients warm apparel to keep them better protected against the elements was something we wanted to do.”
