The City of Brandon says “the intention of the Vacant and Derelict By-Law is to ensure vacant buildings are safe, to motivate owners to either use their buildings or redevelop their properties as appropriate. The proposed changes to this by-law will remove enforcement barriers and allow administration to more actively pursue a proactive enforcement approach downtown. The first reading of the By-Law took place at City Council’s regular meeting on Monday, December 4, 2023. The 2nd and 3rd reading of the By-Law will take place on Monday, December 18, 2023 for City Council debate and consideration.
