Brandon city councillors will continue preparing for their annual 2024 budget deliberations when they meet tonight. They’ll also review the interim operating budget for 2024 and the City of Brandon Borrowing authorization.
Also on the agenda – the annual review of fees for services. We could see rates rise between 1.3% and 5% for things like pool rentals at the Sportsplex and commercial refuse collection, and parking metre rates could rise to a dollar-and-hour from 50-cents. The cost for storing golf carts could also rise by 20%.
Council will also receive the annual Emergency Plan review and Sustainability Plan Report, and discuss raising water rates for 6-and-a-half years to help pay down its utility operating deficit.
