Brandon School Division trustees have voted to raise school taxes.
A report today says the education property tax is set to increase by 2.92% – or just over $25.00 more for the average homeowner.
The Brandon Sun reports expenses rose more than a $9.06-million from last year’s budget. The Sun also reports that ‘Brandon School Division board of trustees chair Linda Ross defended the increase, calling it “modest” and “necessary to meet the needs of our students.”‘
Earlier this month, Brandon City Council voted to raise property taxes by 9.4%.
