Environment Canada has now issued a Blowing Snow Advisory for Westman including the City of Brandon.
They say poor visibility in snow and blowing snow is expected or occurring in some locations.
A low pressure system over east-central regions of the province will continue moving towards the northeast today. Strong westerly or southwesterly winds will continue this morning with gusts upwards of 70 km/h expected. These winds, coupled with falling light snow will create reduced visibilities in blowing snow.
Conditions will begin to improve Monday morning as the low pressure system moves towards northern Ontario, allowing winds to abate and the snow to taper off.
Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero.
Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
Blowing snow advisories are issued when winds are expected to create blowing snow giving poor visibility to 800 metres or less for at least 3 hours.
