March the 13th is Ken Day, yes, Ken Carson, the iconic doll, and Barbie’s long-term on-off boyfriend since 1961; celebrates his day today! So, on The New Q Mornings with Tim and Shelly, we played some Ken audio for you, back when he made his grand debut, stepping into Barbie’s world in ’61. Speaking of Barbie, she’s walking down the aisle, but not with Ken! Mattel, the maker of Barbie is dropping a new line of Barbie-inspired wedding gowns featuring bows, ruffles, and plenty of pink! Mattel has teamed up with bridal industry giant Azazie to create a lone-of-a-kind collection of wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and flower girls! My first question was, “how much” prices range from $79-$1,149 dollars, and sizes run from 0-30! And why wouldn’t Mattel get into the wedding gown business, the Barbie movie brought in $1.4-billion dollars at the box office, and is already touted as one of the biggest films of 2023. Interesting to note: Ken and Barbie were never officially engaged or married, but they did camp together in the iconic 70’s Barbie van, lol!
Tim’s daughter is getting married this year, so I asked him, if he would spring for a Barbie inspired wedding gown for his daughter? Tim replied, with a “hard NO”! Would you buy one?
