-Brandon Wheat Kings goalie Carson Bjarnason has been named to the East Division’s second all star team – his first-ever appearance. Bjarnason and the Wheat Kings open their first round playoff series against the Warriors in Moose Jaw on Friday.
-The Brandon AAA U18 Wheat Kings are league champions. They beat the Winnipeg Wild 4-3 in overtime yesterday. Jaxon Jacobson was named the MVP of the playoffs. Brandon advances to the Western Regionals beginning Thursday, April 4th in Winnipeg. The 4-team field also includes the Wild, the Saskatchewan U18 AAA Hockey League champion Saskatoon Blazers and the Hockey Northwestern Ontario AAA District champion Thunder Bay Kings.
-The Edmonton Oilers edged the Winnipeg Jets 4-3 in overtime. It was the Jets fourth loss in-a-row. Winnipeg plays again Thursday when they host the Golden Knights.
-and Major League Baseball’s regular season begins tomorrow. The Toronto Blue Jays play their first 10 games on the road starting in Tampa Bay. Their home-opener is April 8th against the Seattle Mariners.
