Impaired Driver
On April 17th at 11:57 am, Brandon police say a 30-year-old male driver called in to report he was rear-ended in the 1800 block of 18th Street. There were no injuries reported, but the complainant reported the other driver ran a red light after they exchanged particulars, and he was concerned about his behavior. Police say the 37-year-old male driver of the other vehicle was located and arrested, and officers say he showed signs of impairment. He provided two breath samples which were just over the legal limit. He was later released for court on April 25th, 2024.
Break In
On April 17th at 4:02 pm, a resident in the 500 block of 23rd Street reported they had left their residence for twenty minutes, and when they returned the garage door was open and a red Trek bike had been stolen. Theft Under $5000
On April 17th at 7:20 pm, Police say an employee from a business in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue reported a male tried to steal $125 worth of groceries, but was stopped before he left the store. He was sent on his way, but about 15 minutes later, the male allegedly returned and loaded up a cart full of $625 worth of food and tried to leave the store. The male was also on an order not to be in the business. Police arrested a 32-year-old male for theft and breaching his undertaking. He was held for court on April 18th, 2024.
Possession of Dangerous Weapon
On April 17th at 10:43 pm, an employee from a business in the 800 block of Middleton Avenue reported a male was trying to sleep in the hallways and refusing to leave. Police say a 26-year-old male was arrested. He also allegedly had a box cutter on his person, and was on a probation order not to possess any weapons. He will be released in the morning for court on June 27, 2024.
Carry A concealed Weapon
On April 17th at 10:30 pm, a resident in the 100 block of 13th Street called to report a male was in her yard yelling and throwing her garden tools. Officers attended and say an intoxicated 40 year old male was arrested. They say he was also found to have a sword in a sheath under his arm. He was charged for carrying concealed weapon and possess a dangerous weapon. He will be released in the morning for court on June 27th, 2024.
