I’m so excited, because camping season has officially arrived in Manitoba! 8 Provincial Parks are open this weekend, starting today!
I grew up near Spruce Wood Provincial Park, near Glenboro, Mb. The Manitoba Gov’t says there are new playgrounds at Kiche Manitou in Spruce Woods, Winnipeg Beach, White Lake and Whitefish Lake, that’s sorely needed, well done.
My family and I have a seasonal site at Rock Lake, just a few kilometers away from where I grew up in Baldur. We love it, this is our 3rd season at our seasonal site, my Husband cooks on an open fire, he is a brilliant chef, creating mouthwatering dishes every night, we also enjoy a nightly campfire, and during the day, I walk or read and listen to music, while my son loves to paint all the rocks around our campfire, good job Thomas, it’s really colorful! We even splurged and bought a golf cart for my son for his birthday last year as he lost part of his vision, and now he can safely enjoy seeing more of our campground and Rock Lake, riding shotgun in the golf cart. My Husband drives, and the Sir Amos the dog is jammed between them, it’s a sight to behold! No room for Mom!
I hope where ever you camp this weekend, or this season, you enjoy the great outdoors, and have some smores at your campfire, play games, rest, and re-charge! I call camping at Rock Lake, “My Happy Place” We have a nice camper with air/heat, so it’s more like “glamping”, than camping, don’t get me wrong, I pitched a tent in my teens, and did the tent camper with my kids when they were little, that camper leaked for a few years too! But at present, in “glampville”, while we have air conditioning, we don’t have cell service, I loved being unplugged, it’s bliss, it’s the best of both worlds. Happy Camping in Manitoba, and Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mom’s in Q Country!
Cheers,
Shelly and Tim
