We’ve been getting a break on provincial gasoline taxes since the beginning of the year, and it’ll continue for another three months.
Premier Wab Kinew announced today the Manitoba government is extending the gas tax holiday for a second time. The government initially lifted the 14-cent-a-litre provincial tax at the start of the year, to help us deal with inflation, and it was initially meant to last only 6 months but was extended until the end of September. It’ll now last until the end of the year.
Kinew says the province will evaluate whether to extend the tax cut again at the end of the year.
The fuel tax brings in roughly $340 million a year for the province.
