Agronomy and seed company Winfield United holds an annual competition where independent ag retailers are invited to partner with a local charitable organization and enter a project that impacts a need in the area of Mental Health, Hunger, Education, or Community Spirit.
It’s ‘Raise the Barn’ initiative offers a total of $30,000 to a local project, and Redfern Farm Services in Souris is one of four regional winners. They’ve already won $10,000, and have a chance to claim another $20,000 through a public vote.
Redfern’s project involves a partnership with Westman Mental Wellness and Suicide Prevention Association “to bring much-needed counselling support to our community. With wait times to see mental health professionals stretching up to six months, it’s clear that timely support is a challenge. Our initiative aims to bridge this gap by offering affordable counselling services to community members during their long wait times for mental health professionals.”
You can vote for Redfern’s project at I just voted for my project on Raise the Barn. You have the chance to help our community win $28,000 if you vote too! – WinField® United CA
Daily voting is open until November 18th. One vote per day per email. The Grand Prize winner will be announced the week of November 18, 2024.
On its website, Winfield United says “People joining together to build strong, vibrant communities is a hallmark of the agriculture industry. Raise the Barn builds on that rich history and brings together independent ag retails and community groups to make a lasting difference where we live and work.”
2023’s Grand Prize winner was a school lunch program project spearheaded by Sierens Seed Service in Somerset, Manitoba.
