The Brandon Shoppers Mall was evacuated and closed after a fire this morning in one of the building’s units.
Brandon Fire Emergency Services Captain Shayne Collister told Q Country/Star FM News the fire was contained to a wall inside Hair Today Mall Barbers. He says there was some water damage due to the sprinkler system going off, and that unit is closed.
Fire crews were called to the scene at around 8:20 am, and Collister says the mall was evacuated shortly after that. There are no reports of any injuries.
The shopping centre remains closed for the day, but stores with an exterior set of doors can re-open including Sobey’s, Shoppers Drug Mart, Goodlife Fitness, Sport Chek, Tommy Gunn, Delta 9, Scotia Bank and Guild Insurance.
The fire remains under investigation.
