-Team Canada opened its pre-tournament schedule in Ottawa with a 7-1 win over Switzerland. Carson Bjarnason of the Brandon Wheat Kings played the 3rd period and stopped three of four shots. Canada meets Sweden on Saturday, and Czechia on Monday before kicking-off the World Junior Hockey Championship on Boxing Day against Finland.
-The Winnipeg Jets return to action Saturday when they host the Minnesota Wild.
-and in the PWHL – the defending champion Minnesota Frost defeated the Ottawa Charge 5-2.
