-Connor McDavid scored the game winner as Canada beat the U-S 3-2 in overtime to win the 4 Nations Face-Off final. The NHL is back in action Saturday with 14 games including the Winnipeg Jets in St. Louis.
-The Brandon Wheat Kings, on a 5-game winning streak, return to the ice tonight when they host the Calgary Hitmen.
-The Manitoba U18 AAA Female Hockey League playoffs continued Thursday night with Brandon beating Yellowhead 3-1 to take a 1-0 series lead. In other action, the Winnipeg Ice shutout Pembina Valley 2-0 to tie their series at one.
-In the PWHL – Boston edged Ottawa 3-2 in overtime.
-The Brandon University Bobcats men’s basketball team is in Calgary today against the Trinity Western Spartans to start the Canada West playoffs. Watch party in the Healthy Living Centre on the big screen begins at 3:00 pm. The winner will meet the host Dinos on Saturday. The BU Bobcats men’s volleyball team earned a first round playoff bye after winning three in a row to wrap up the Canada West regular season. BU opens a best-of-3 quarter-final in Vancouver on Thursday, Feb. 27 vs. the UBC Thunderbirds.
-At the Scotties – Manitoba’s Kerri Einarson takes on Alberta’s Kayla Skrilik this afternoon in the championship round. Also advancing to the playoffs was Rachel Homan’s Team Canada, BC, Nova Scotia and Ontario.
