-Pink Shirt Day is today, February 26th. Pink Shirt Day began in 2007 when a student in Nova Scotia was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school. It has since been recognized annually worldwide as a day to stand against bullying.
-The Brandon Bear Clan is seeking funding to keep it’s 2-paid employees. The Brandon Sun says the loss of a key anonymous financial donor has left the organization scrambling to find replacement funds. They did meet with the Mayor Tuesday, and are looking at other grant opportunities; to help fill this financial gap.
-Parkland’s Mountain View School Division is planning to re-introduce the playing of “God Save the King” during morning announcements. Some trustees are concerned this change could affect Indigenous staff and students.
-Manitoba’s top doctor is urging everyone to get the flu shot amid a surge in influenza cases and low vaccination rates. Brent Roussin says flu numbers are high putting an increased strain on our E-R’s and hospitals – and influenza A still hasn’t peaked.
-Canadian comedian Russell Peters will be coming to Brandon with his singular comedic standup routine this fall, as part of his Relax World Tour, at the Keystone Centre’s Westoba Place on Nov. 20, 2025. Tickets go on sale Friday
