In a social media post today, Brandon Police Service said “We are aware of speculation circulating regarding a Motor Vehicle Collision that occurred on March 1st, 2025, and would like to share incident information.
On March 1st at approximately 1:19 pm, Brandon Police Service was called to a two vehicle Motor Vehicle Collision at 26th Street and Park Ave. Brandon Police, Brandon Fire and EMS attended.
Upon Police arrival it as observed that there were two vehicles in the middle of the intersection. Assistance for other units was requested for traffic control.
Upon investigation, it was determined that neither driver was under the influence of alcohol or drug at the time of the accident. A sealed case of beer had broken open upon impact in the one vehicle and cans were thrown throughout the vehicle. All cans were accounted for and confirmed as sealed and unopened.
The situation was handled in accordance with standard procedure for motor vehicle accidents. Both drivers were assessed by EMS and both vehicles were towed.
BPS / BFES responders found no signs of impairment with either driver. Parties from both vehicles were treated with respect and care throughout the process. The driver at fault, who failed to stop at a red light, was issued a fine in line with the highway traffic act.

Police did not say what the speculation was, but some comments on social media appear to point to the vehicles racing.
