A shooting near Ebb and Flow First Nation in December of 2024 at first resulted in charges of manslaughter to a 53-year-old man. Those charges, however, have been elevated.
In a release today, RCMP and Manitoba Major Crime Services announced the manslaughter charge against Cyril St. Paul was now a second-degree murder charge. St. Paul remains in custody, and is presumed innocent.
According to RCMP, on December 15, 2024, at about 7:45 AM, Ste. Rose RCMP were called to a report of a shooting on Highway 278 near Ebb and Flow. When officers responded, they found a wounded 34-year-old man lying beside a truck. He was transported to hospital in Dauphin, but died of his injuries.
On December 16, RCMP announced they had arrested a 53-year-old man without incident at a residence in Ebb and Flow.
RCMP added in their release regarding the elevated charge that they believe there are members of the public who still have information that might help their investigation. They are asking anyone with information to contact Ste. Rose Du Lac RCMP at 204-447-3082.
