Fires
In the last 24 hours there were two fires – both deemed nonsuspicious.
On May 9th at 1:03AM 911 advised of a fire reported on Williamson Drive. A neighbour called in reporting she could see flames and smoke coming from a nearby residence. Brandon Fire & Emergency Services attended alongside BPS. It is believed that a BBQ smoker that was kept on the back deck was the origin. The fire was primarily contained there. A neighbour reported smoke inhalation after attempting to evacuate the homeowners. Medical aid was on location. The fire is not deemed suspicious.
Just before midnight on May 8th 911 advised of a fire in the 1900 block of Hilton Avenue. A portable pressure washer truck, which had a boiler to heat the water, caught fire. There were no injuries, the fire was extinguished, and the vehicle was towed.
Theft Under $5000
On May 8th at 12:46PM an employee of a business in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue reported a theft of approximately $50 worth of meat products. A suspect description was given, and police were able to locate the 42-year-old male in the area. He was charged with Theft Under $5000 and released via Undertaking with a court date of July 10th, 2025.
Sexual Assault / Sexual Interference
The Major Crimes Section led an investigation into a historical sexual assault complaint. A 21-year-old female reported being assaulted by her former stepfather between the ages of 9-12 years old. On May 8th the 42-year-old male was arrested, held in detention cells and will attend court in the morning on May 9th, 2025.
Failure to Comply Release Order
On May 8th at 7:06PM police responded to a report of an intoxicated female banging on the doors of a residence in the 200 block of 9th Street. Police attended and located the 22-year-old woman who was to abide by conditions not to attend the address. She was arrested, held in detention cells and will be released once sober. A court date of July 17th, 2025 has been set.
In the last 24 hours there were four people arrested for IPDA (Intoxicated Persons Detention Act). As well as four people arrested on the strength of their Warrants.
