Eight children were taken to hospital with minor injuries after a school bus crashed into a tractor near the intersection of Road 37 West and Road 43 North, in the RM of Grey, the RCMP reported this afternoon.
According to a release, Treherne RCMP were called to a report of a crash at 9:00 in the morning on May 13. When officers arrived on scene, Emergency Medical Services were already attending to occupants of the bus.
RCMP said they found that a grader travelling southbound down Road 37 West was pushing debris along the road and being collected by a tractor when the school bus rear-ended the tractor. The grader was not involved in the collision.
The school bus was transporting 31 children to school in the Prairie Spirit School Division. Eight children were taken to hospitals in the area, all with minor injuries, as were the drivers involved in the collision for precautionary reasons.
RCMP added alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash.
