A 21-year-old man from Ebb and Flow First Nation faces numerous charges including possession of a weapon and flight from police following an arrest by Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP.
According to an RCMP release, the arrest happened on May 14 at Crane River First Nation. Officers from Ste. Rose du Lac and Winnipegosis RCMP along with assistance from Manitoba RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS) were executing a warrant at the time.
After gaining entry to a residence in the community, police said they were told there was a wanted man hiding in the crawl space. Police allege they ordered the man to come out and informed him he was under arrest, but he refused to comply. They also said they learned he was armed with a firearm.
“Due to the high-risk situation, PDS Marook along with his handler were called in and located the suspect hiding under several items,” RCMP said in their release. “The suspect was taken into custody with minor injuries.”
Marcus Cain Thompson, 21, of Ebb and Flow First Nation, was charged with Fail To Comply with Probation Order, Pointing a Firearm, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purposes, Flight from Police, and Resisting Arrest. He was remanded into custody and is presumed innocent.
