The City’s south-end lift stations are expected to go $5M over budget. That’s because they were not charging developers enough over the last five years. The Bdn Sun says that Council unanimously approved an extra $1.7 million; bringing the total up to $23.7 million.
The two lift stations, part of the wastewater treatment process, are located at 34th Street and Patricia Avenue and the corner of 18th Street and Patricia Avenue.

‘Groundbreaking’ gains for child-care workers
They are getting historic raises that amount to as much as $5 more per hour. The Manitoba and federal governments together announced a new wage grid for the local early learning and child-care sector Friday.
That means baseline ECE II rates will jump to $27.56 from $22.90. The changes are retroactive to April 1. Ottawa is providing $56.2 million for the initiative, while Manitoba is earmarking $4.2 million.

Canada Post is reviewing the union’s offer responses as OT ban remains in effect
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers Canada Post, says talks are expected to resume in coming days, as both parties met Sunday as their overtime ban stretches on.
In an email, CUPW criticized Canada Post for rejecting its truce proposal. Canada Post said the most recent offers reflect its financial realities.

Transport Canada has issued auto recalls updated for Ford F-150s, Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators. The recall notices affect more than 15,000 vehicles, combined, braking is the safety issue. Affecting the o2022, 2023 and 2024 models of Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs.

Shortly after lunchtime today, King Charles and Queen Camilla will arrive at the Ottawa International Airport to take part in two days of official duties. The King will deliver the speech from the throne in the Senate on Tuesday. The new session of Parliament is opened by a throne speech, which will lay out the Carney Governments goals.
