Portage la Prairie, Manitoba May 28, 2025
As a result of an on-going investigation, Portage la Prairie RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS), along with General Duty officers made a total of sixteen arrests following a retail theft enforcement operation in downtown Portage la Prairie.
The first blitz on May 17, 2025, also involved the assistance of the Manitoba RCMP Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS). A total of seven individuals were arrested on shoplifting charges, two of whom had outstanding warrants for their arrest.
On May 24, 2025, Portage la Prairie RCMP GIS, General Duty officers, along with assistance from the Manitoba Integrated Law Enforcement Team (MILET) completed a second retail theft enforcement blitz.
A total of nine individuals were arrested and charged with Theft under $5,000.
In one instance, a suspect was observed exiting a store without purchasing the item and left in a vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted; the 28-year-old male driver was arrested for shoplifting and was also charged with Driving While Suspended. The vehicle was impounded.
Portage la Prairie RCMP GIS thanks the businesses for their cooperation and assistance provided during the police investigation.
