The Manitoba Government Declared a State of Emergency to Protect residents from Wildfires yesterday, The Premier also asked for the support of the Canadian Armed Forces in transporting evacuees. Premier Wab Kinew says this state of emergency is in effect for 30 days; and may be extended if necessary, ensuring federal, provincial and local resources are at the ready.

A 68-year old male was arrested for Possessing child pornography and Access to child pornography. Brandon Police says following an investigation from February of 2025- into Possession of child pornography; they located and arrested the 68-year-old male Wednesday in Brandon. He was released to appear in court on August 7, 2025.

A Canadian border service operation; lead to the seizure of fentanyl, other narcotics. “Operation Blizzard” was a month-long, cross -country campaign by the (CBSA) to “intercept fentanyl and other illegal drugs in postal, air cargo and marine containers.” A total of 116 fentanyl shipments were seized, including 1.73 kilograms intercepted in British Columbia, Quebec and Alberta. Of these seizures, 1.44 kilograms were destined for the United States.

Canada Post is reporting a $1.3B operating loss in 2024. This news comes as a potential postal worker strike is looming. The Crown corp made up for some of those losses by selling off certain ventures, like its logistics business. The last time Canada Post made a profit was in 2017. Overall, the Crown corporation says it has lost $3.8 billion since 2018.
