Brandon Police are reassuring the public there is no longer any threat after an arrest and temporary lockdown at Neelin High School early this afternoon.
According to police, they responded to a “report of an incident involving two male youths” at about 1:15 PM at the school. When they arrived, they arrested a 16-year-old, while a 15-year-old received medical attention.
In a release, police said the school was placed under lockdown as a precaution, but the lockdown has since been lifted.
“There is no ongoing threat to students, staff, or the surrounding area with respect to this incident,” reads the release. “To allow for continued investigation and support, students and families can expect an early dismissal today. School administration will provide further instructions.”
Police added they are still investigating and will release more information as it becomes available.
