Though the wildfire danger around Manitoba remains a concern, several RMs in the WestMan region have now lifted early season fire bans. Today, the RM of Oakview became the latest.
The RM announced today they had lifted their fire ban as of 11:30 AM on June 16. The ban is lifted until further notice.
Though the latest fire bulletin from the provincial government puts the fire danger at high (with fears of lightning strikes causing more fires), today’s rain in WestMan will help keep the risk low. Up north, the communities of Sherridon, Herb Lake Landing, Cranberry Portage and the town of Snow Lake lifted mandatory evacuation orders on Friday.
Friday’s fire bulletin did not show any active wildfires in the WestMan region.
