A reception centre has been set-up in Brandon all ready to receive hundreds of people from Lynn Lake. The town, about 1,100 kilometres north of the city, is being threatened again by a nearby wildfire. A mandatory evacuation order has been issued, and if the fire causes a power outage impacting services, everyone will need to evacuate.

If you lost important documents like passports, citizenship certificates, permanent resident cards or other travel documents because of wildfires, you can now apply for free replacements. The federal government says costs will be waived until November 30th.

The province is spending $4.8-million to repair the roads around Neepawa’s new health centre. The money will be spent to upgrade two sections of Highway 16. The new health centre will almost double the number of acute care beds, provide three new delivery rooms, and an expanded emergency room.

A bomb threat made against Winnipeg’s airport Thursday had minimal impact on its operations, but Manitoba RCMP said because of the nature of the location, police had to take it seriously. A search did not find anything suspicious. Several other airports across the country received similar threats which caused temporary flight delays and evacuations.

The site, at Home | City of Brandon, has a new design and layout which the city says aims to streamline access to information. The city says the website now has a more intuitive navigation system, along with an enhanced Google-powered search, and will also have alert banners for critical information.

Waves of drone and missile attacks targeted Kyiv overnight into Friday. It was the largest aerial assault since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began more than three years ago. The barrage injured at least 23 people and inflicted severe damage across multiple districts of the city in a seven-hour onslaught.

NASA has discovered an interstellar comet that’ll pass through our solar system. Scientists say the comet, which poses no threat to Earth, will make its closest approach to the sun in late October, scooting between the orbits of Mars and Earth, but closer to Mars – and should be visible by telescope through September.

Calgary Stampede begins today with a parade full of tassels, boots and buckles. Some 300,000 people are expected to line the streets to get a glimpse of Country superstar Shania Twain. She’ll saddle up and lead the parade on horseback before performing on Saturday. The Stampede runs until July 13th.

Famous kids’ restaurant, Chuck E Cheese, is leveling up with a new adults-only concept. ‘Chuck’s Arcade’ is now open in the U-S with retro games like Donkey Kong and Mortal Kombat – and newer faves like Halo. Some even offer pizza, beer, and wine, making it part arcade, part casual hangout.
