Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a man who RCMP say escaped custody while wearing handcuffs.
According to Portage la Prairie RCMP, they got a call from Manitoba First Nations Police Service that a suspect they had arrested had escaped their custody at about 9:00 PM on July 24. Byron Roulette, a 26-year-old male from Winnipeg, was last seen on the 500 block of 5th Street SE in Portage la Prairie at 7:30pm. He was handcuffed and believed to be shirtless, had blood stains on his shoes, and was wearing grey-brown shorts.
Police said if anyone sees Roulette they are not to approach him but should call 911 immediately. They were asking all residents of Portage la Prairie to be on the lookout for Roulette and to report any suspicious activity or persons to police.
RCMP also advised there would be a large police presence, including Manitoba RCMP Police Dog Service (PDS) and the RCMP Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS), in the area where he was last seen.
