I love all the fresh produce and beautiful flowers that a bountiful garden yields. The problem is, despite my Mother’s efforts, sadly I have not mastered the art of gardening, which surprises me just a bit considering my Grandfather was a Botanist. Apparently a green thumb isn’t necessarily inherited. Every Spring I buy and plant flowers with the hope that they’ll stay fresh and beautiful through the season and every summer at about this time I find myself heading to the greenhouse to replenish the baskets that “didn’t make it”. I water them, I dead head them and still they end up looking like the tree from a Charlie Brown Christmas. I spent the long weekend replenishing several flowers in my little garden giving the illusion once again that I know what I’m doing. It’ll be our little secret.
