-The Winnipeg Blue Bombers won their second straight game, and improved to 6-and-4, with a 26-13 win over the Montreal Alouettes on Thursday. Tonight, the Edmonton Elks visit the Ottawa Redblacks.
-The Toronto Blue Jays open a weekend series in Miami against the Marlins today. The Jays still lead the American League East, 4-and-a-half games up on the New York Yankees.
-The Winnipeg Sea Bears are in Calgary to take on the Surge in the Canadian Elite Basketball League Western Finals.
-Manitoba is in 6th place among the provinces with 18 medals – seven gold, six silver and five bronze – at the Canada Summer Games in St. John’s, N.L. As of Thursday morning, Quebec led the medal count, followed by Ontario and British Columbia. The games wrap up on Aug. 25.
