The 2026 Canadian edition of The Old Farmers Almanac has been released and is forecasting a mostly wet and mild winter for the country.
It says temperatures will be mild across most of Canada, except near to below normal in southeastern Ontario. This comes with a reminder that ‘mild’ is relative. “It will still be winter, so plan (and dress!) accordingly.”
A wet winter is on tap from Atlantic Canada through Nunavut; in southern Quebec and western Ontario; and through the southern Prairies, the extreme southern portion of British Columbia, and southern Yukon. Precipitation will be near to below normal elsewhere.
Snowfall will be above normal over Atlantic Canada through northern Quebec and Nunavut, western Ontario, and the northwestern Prairies and northernmost British Columbia into southern Yukon.
The latest edition of The Old Farmers Almanac also explores the impact of Canada’s immigrants on crop diversity, how Canadian farmers are saving the soil, the geology of pingos, secrets of the sugar bush, and more.
