It’s the first day of school today for most all Manitoba students including those in the Brandon School Division; except Students in Grades 10-12 here-they will start tomorrow. Remember school zones return to 30km, Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm.

Tragedy on our roads in Westman this long weekend. A Teen has been charged after an elderly man died in crash between pickup and SUV in southwest Manitoba Saturday morning.
The 17-year-old male, driving a pickup truck travelling southbound on highway 5 collided with the SUV travelling westbound towards Belmont on highway 23, forcing it to roll several times. The SUV driver, a 77-year-old male from Killarney was treated on scene- but died. The male teen driver; from the RM of North Cypress, was not injured, and was charged with dangerous operation of motor vehicle causing death.

Meantime: A 17-year-old Brandon girl is dead after being struck by vehicle early Sunday Morning. Police say alcohol not believed to be factor in crash
The Bdn Sun says Madison Young was looking forward to school this week and a new job. Young was hit by a vehicle as she was walking on a road in the rural municipality of Cornwallis, around 3:15 a.m. A 16-year-old boy was with her; they had just left a party in the area. He was not injured.

Ontario’s Premier dumped a Crown Royal bottle in protest of plant closure, saying they are hurting Ontario’
Doug Ford was protesting the whisky maker’s decision to shutter its bottling facility in Amherstburg .
The Ontario facility will close in February 2026, forcing almost 200 people to lose their jobs.
